Paul Pogba Linked With Barcelona Switch

The summer transfer window has produced some major moments in the last few years with big-time players swapping to other clubs around Europe and the world, and the 2018 summer window has been no different. With the main story being Cristiano Ronaldo’s shock move from Real Madrid to Juventus you’d think that everything else would be redundant – but you’d be wrong.

There are several stories that have broken in the last few days that are both causes for concern and cause for excitement, but if you’re a Manchester United fan, then we suggest that you look away now. The reason for that is the new rumours flying around that star midfielder Paul Pogba has had enough of life at Old Trafford and wants to make a big money switch to the Nou Camp with Barcelona.

It’s something that you could argue some people have seen coming for a long time, with Pogba never seeming 100% happy with the way that things are done at United under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho. Pogba recently returned from the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, where he raised his stock even more by helping Les Bleus to defeat Croatia in the final.

Pogba’s departure wouldn’t be a complete and utter disaster for United, but you’d have to question whether or not it’d lead to the fans turning on their Portuguese boss. After all, whilst they have been challenging at the top more so than they did before he arrived, things still haven’t been perfect with him at the helm.

Despite being one of the biggest clubs in the world that doesn’t always guarantee the happiness of players, and it feels like someone needs to tell Mourinho that if this is indeed one of the reasons why Pogba is thinking about leaving.

Some people will continue to debate whether or not he’s the world-class player that most fans view him to be, when in reality, if you were to watch him on a week to week basis, you’d soon realise what kind of value he brings to United’s starting XI.

Elsewhere in the summer market Gonzalo Higuain is someone who has been a hot topic, with AC Milan supposedly being favoured to pip Chelsea to the post and sign the Argentine striker. Higuain has been linked with a move away from Juventus ever since the aforementioned CR7 came through the door and announced himself as The Old Lady’s new top dog.

In terms of English football, though, things are changing with each and every passing day. Joao Moutinho moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers is arguably the most shocking move since the post-season began, Rob Green will play out his final years with Chelsea, Aleksandar Mitrovic has a new found motivation with a move to Fulham, and he’ll be joined there by none other than Andre Schurrle.

But we’ll re-focus our attention on Paul Pogba now, and more specifically, what it’ll take to bring him to Barcelona. He’s got a long-term contract deal with Manchester United that he signed not too long ago, meaning that the Red Devils will be rubbing their hands together at the thought of what kind of figure Barca would come back with.

There’s a chance that this deal could exceed £200 million if it goes through, especially when you look at Pogba’s track record. For a lot of players in this position there are certain negatives that you could point to but when you think about how far he’s come in the last few years and how much he’s matured, it’s hard to imagine him as being anything other than one of the best midfielders on Earth today.
