Celtic to Finish the Job Off in Scotland

While they didn’t win the first leg game in Romania last week, Celtic did many things right in that game, including setting themselves up with a great opportunity to get through to the next round. A win here and just one team will stand between Celtic and the Champions League group stages, and it is a win I think they are going to pick up.

The Bhoys played very well last week after taking a little time to settle, and even though they went a goal down in the opening part of the game, there was a lot to like about their measured performance. They deservedly got an equaliser later on in the game to leave it all square going into this tie.

The game was one that the Romanians were expected to win, and I was disappointed with what we saw from them. They had the game at home in front of their own fans, with an intimidating atmosphere for the Celtic players to handle. However, they could not make that count and the Scottish side were able to keep things exactly how they wanted, which was level.

This game will be completely different, I expect things to be more clinical from Celtic and they are sure to have the ball for long periods of time. Instead of the Romanians trying to force things I think they will sit back, and that is going to give Celtic the time they need to build pressure, and hopefully make that pay.

I think Cluj needed to win the first leg to have any chance here, and with Celtic back on home soil and in front of their own fans, I only see this game going one way.

A great opportunity for Celtic to get closer to the Champions League group stages and a win here would leave them with just one tie to go before they get there. They did all the hard work in the first leg to get a draw away from home and now it is time for them to capitalise on the opportunity they have given themselves.

That is exactly what I think they will do here, I fancy them to take the win and move onto the next round. They should be able to control this game and open up a team who look set to sit back, and eventually the pressure will mean Cluj will fold and Celtic will score.
