Ajax to Take Final Step into Champions League

Just one team stands between Ajax and the Champions League group stages, and that is Apoel Nicosia of Cyprus. The Dutch champions are edging closer to making the main part of the competition once more, a competition that they reached the semi finals off last season, and were just seconds away from being in the final.

They have to put that behind them now, and appear to have done that so far in their games in this competition.

Ajax Fancied to Strike in Champions League Away Tie

It seems a little strange for a club as big as Ajax to be in the Champions League at this stage, but this is where they have to start. Despite reaching the semi final of the competition last season and knocking out some big guns including Real Madrid and Juventus, they have to qualify as the Eredivisie does not currently get a place in the group stages of the competition. However, after drawing 1-1 in Holland, there is no doubt that Juventus have the upper hand here, going back home and aiming to make the semi finals. That would be the bare minimum for the Italian side this season, they are once again dominating Serie A, but more is needed if they are to really be successful.
