Norway Host Spain In Vital UEFA Euro 2020 Qualifying Showdown
It’s time to get back down to business with UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying, and today, we’re going to take a look specifically at Group F. There are four legitimate contenders when it comes to the top two automatic qualification spots, and while there’s not much further left to go, there’s still quite a bit of uncertainty left in the air. The game we’re looking at today will be contested between Norway and Spain, who are in two very different positions. The Norwegians are currently in fourth place, two points off of Sweden in second. Spain, on the other hand, and riding high with six wins from their first six games in the group.
Norway’s latest six-game stretch actually began with a game against Spain, as they were beaten 2-1 by the 2010 World Cup winners. They went on to draw 3-3 with Sweden in a pretty remarkable encounter, before picking up another draw against Romania. In their two games against the minnows they weren’t particularly convincing, only managing to beat Faroe Islands and Malta by two goals apiece. In their latest outing they took on Sweden once again, this time drawing 1-1. Teenage sensation Erling Haaland has withdrawn from the squad due to injury, with Gabrielsen also pulling out. Ajer is back in the squad and should feature, with Odegaard still being tipped to make a big difference for his side.
For Spain it’s been pretty simple: they’ve just been winning. Their last six game run began with the aforementioned 2-1 win over Norway, before themselves edging past Malta 2-0. They then stuck four past the Faroe Islands, but did wind up conceding, and they kept the train rolling with a 3-0 success over Sweden. They managed to beat Romania 2-1 in a competitive game, and then in their last group encounter, they beat Faroe Islands 4-0. Carvajal and Navas are competing for a place in the starting XI with one of Martinez, Llorente and Albiol being expected to start with Ramos at the back.
Norway vs Spain Betting Prediction
The qualification process for UEFA Euro 2020 can often take us down a million and one different twists and turns, but in this instance, we don’t believe there’s going to be a surprise waiting for Spain. We can see the Norwegians giving it everything they’ve got, but the Spanish are quite literally on a whole other level right now. They could even be one of the favourites by the time get around to the tournament itself next summer, and we don’t say that lightly. Norway, on the other hand, have got a lot of work to do.
