Fulham Offer Value Away at Cardiff in Championship

Fulham head to Cardiff on Friday night for a game that puts together two clubs who were relegated from the Premier League last season. I don’t think either team will be upset with how they have started, but it is fair to say we have only really seen glimpses from them, there is a lot more to come, especially in the case of Fulham. The Cottagers have managed to keep together most of their squad from last season, and promotion back to the top flight is certainly their aim. Cardiff don’t seen to be set up to do the same, and it would be no surprise to see them fall back into the pack and go back to being a decent top half Championship team.

An away win at Huddersfield and a home victory over Millwall saw Fulham close to their best in parts of those games. If they can find that kind of level on a regular basis then there is no doubt they are going to challenge for promotion this season. However, a loss at Barnsley on the opening day and then a loss against Nottingham Forest last weekend at home shows that they are still not the finished article and there is work to do.

Cardiff have also been beaten twice, while winning two and drawing one and just like Fulham you get the impression there is more to come from them. They already look as though they lack a little compared to the very best teams in the league but they have more than enough to make this a successful season, and consistency will be something they too are looking for.

The bookmakers have this down as an even game, with both teams very similar in price. However, I think Fulham are by far the better team here if they can find their best form. They have shown glimpses so far, and based on that I think there is another level they can get up to, that Cardiff can’t.

Even though they are away from home, which makes things slightly tougher, I think Fulham offer good value on Friday night and that is the team I will be backing when these two ex-Premier League teams meet.
