It has been a surprising, but very good start to the new season for Bolton Wanderers and they can continue that start with another win on Wednesday when Birmingham travel to face them. Many people expected Bolton to be involved in a relegation battle once again this season, but if their recent form is anything to go by then they look set to be well clear of the drop.

With two wins and a draw from their opening three games they currently sit in 6th which is the final play off place. This is highly unlikely to continue for the full season but they know the importance of picking up early points and are clearly targeting them. Every point they pick up in August will make their battle easier towards the end of the season, and it is clear that the team are really targeting this.

Birmingham were also in the relegation fight last season, but their start has been very different to that of The Trotters. They are yet to win a game, with two draws and a loss so far. They are clearly trying to make themselves hard to play against, which has helped them pick up a couple of points, but winning is what they need to do to kick start their season. Just like last year they look good enough to escape the drop, but nothing would help their confidence more than picking up a couple of early wins during the first month of the season, something they haven’t been able to do so far. This game gives them a chance, but Bolton are on a roll right now and playing some good football.

Bolton vs Birmingham Betting Tips

On the face of it, this is a game between two closely matched relegation candidates and their is little to separate them. However, when you look at recent form, Bolton have been exceeding expectations and they have been playing to a very good level which has seen them surprise quite a few so far. Birmingham haven’t been doing that and while they have made themselves difficult to break down, they are really lacking a cutting edge in attack.

Every point is crucial, whether it is picked up at the start of the season or the end, and Bolton are trying to put together as many as possible right at the start of the season. This is the right approach to take, and one that I think will see them land another three points on Wednesday night when Birmingham come to town.

I don’t know what it is, but something is clearly making Bolton tick and now is a great time to back them for success. They have won two out of their three games so far, they know what it takes to win and they can pick up a third here. At a nice price for a home team, they have to be a bet on Wednesday and look to be the best bet in the Championship on that night.
