Tottenham Clash With Newcastle In Premier League

This weekend’s Premier League action kicked off with Aston Villa vs Everton last night, and while there is a whole host of great matches to look forward to on the Saturday, we’re looking ahead to one of the more intriguing encounters of this matchday: Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United. This was once considered to be a battle of the giants within the landscape of English football, but over the years Spurs have been able to thrive whereas Newcastle have gone through one of the darkest periods of their recent history – and even that might be putting it a bit lightly.

Tottenham were always going to be facing a lot of high expectations when coming off the back of a season in which they reached the Champions League Final. So far, though, they’ve done a pretty good job of living up to it. During their first two games of the Premier League season they’ve come from behind to beat Aston Villa and somehow managed to earn a point against Manchester City. For this game, however, Son Heung-min will finally be available for selection, with Lamela and Moura being set to campaign for a place in the starting XI. Foyth is injured so he won’t be back despite his suspension coming to an end, with Alli and Sessegnon still sitting out.

The decision to bring Steve Bruce in to replace Rafa Benitez was always going to draw a mixed response, and after two consecutive defeats against Arsenal and Norwich, it’s not exactly hard to see why. Fans would’ve been hoping to see the official return of Andy Carroll in this game, but he is still working his way back to full fitness. Gayle, Colback and Saint-Maximin are all fighting to get back to full fitness before this one kicks off, with Longstaff being tipped to enter the starting XI.

Tottenham vs Newcastle Betting Prediction

The gulf between these teams is so great at the moment, and while Spurs have a tendency to drop points against weaker sides, we just can’t imagine they’ll do so against Newcastle. We think they’ll score early on before adding to their lead later on in the game, essentially blowing Steve Bruce’s side away. If they can pick up a few goals then that’ll work wonders for their goal difference, which goes without saying, because as we all saw last season, that could be vital when it comes to the latter stages of the campaign.
