Expect Goals in King Power Clash Between Leicester and Liverpool

Both Leicester and Liverpool will be happy with their start to the season, and this clash between the two of them on Saturday should be a good test for both. The bookmakers make Liverpool strong favourites here and while I agree they should be favourites for the game, the price on offer is very poor. Leicester have impressed so far this season, their only defeat came away at Old Trafford on the opening day of the season and since then they have won twice.

Wins against Wolves and Southampton have given Leicester six points and this is a much better start than we saw from them last season. They are a good team on their day, and will certainly be aiming to finish somewhere in the top half this season. They have a good all round mix, with a strong group of defensive players in front of a good goalkeeper, and a few different attacking threats to ensure goals come on a regular basis. Although this game will be very tough for Leicester, the price on offer for them to win is slightly insulting to them, they should be a lot shorter in the betting for this game.

Expect Goals on Saturday

Liverpool went through a period of defensive problems last season, but so far we haven’t seen that this season. They have no conceded a goal from their opening three games, and look to be in much better shape. However, this is certainly their toughest task so far in terms of defending, and I think this is where they will become unstuck. Leicester have a number of attacking threats that are capable of giving Liverpool problems and by playing at home, they are sure to attack Liverpool at every opportunity.

At the other end of the field, although Leicester look to have a relatively stable and strong defensive line they are coming up against one of the best forward lines in Europe here, and it would be a big surprise if Liverpool were not able to score at least once in this game. Players like Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino are difficult to contend with and Liverpool still play aggressively even when away from home, so they should get plenty of chances to score.

With both teams looking to play attacking football, and a good number of potential scorers on the field, I think this game is going to lend itself to attacking play, and we are going to see a very attacking game.

Manchester City were a formidable force last season, and if anyone finishes above them they are very likely to win the league this season. It is going to take a lot for Liverpool to improve enough to get past City, but they do seem to be the most credible challenger to their title this season. Manchester United and Tottenham finished in between these two last season, but it appears that Liverpool have improved past those two and emerged as the main threat.

One of the reasons why Liverpool have never made it all the way to a title in recent seasons has been their defensive play. They have struggled and silly mistakes have cost them in big games. Have they done enough to eradicate those problems this season? It looks like they might have on paper, and three clean sheets from their first three games would suggest this was true. They haven’t been tested yet, but early signs for the Liverpool faithful are certainly encouraging.

One area they don’t have any problems is in attack, where they have one of the strongest attacking front three in Europe. Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are not only exceptional individual players, but they have formed a great partnership, working well together to create and score many goals for their club. There is no doubt that these three could lead Liverpool to a league title, and with their defensive issues looking like they could be solved, could this year be the one for Liverpool?

If I was forced to back a team to win this game I think I would go with Liverpool, but the price on offer for them to win is very poor. They are just 1.45 to win the game, offering little or no value to those interested in backing them. The 5.00 on the draw is tempting too, but if you are looking for something a little more certain then there is another way to approach what should be a very good game.

That is to look at the goals markets, because I think we are going to see plenty of goals here. Alongside that, and to give a slightly better price for the bet, I think both teams will score in the game. All bookmakers offer both teams to score betting and if you are unsure who will win a game, or you think the prices on offer are poor, which I do in this game, then this is a great alternative way to get involved in the game.

I don’t think many clubs will be able to keep Liverpool quiet this season, they have too much to cope with, and any one from four or five players can step up and be the difference maker in a game. They have plenty here and although this game is against a decent defensive side away from home, I still fancy them to score at least once here.

Leicester have a good number of attacking options and they like to play an open style, attacking when possible, especially when they are at home. This looks like being a tight game, and any one of the three results wouldn’t be a huge surprise, although Liverpool do look to be the most likely winner. I am backing both teams to score in what looks like being an open entertaining game. Both teams have players on the pitch who can put the ball in the back of the net, so it looks like we could have goals on Saturday in this one.
